The winds of change...

Good morning journeyers, we have had a windy, stormy couple of weeks with Storm Doris and now Storm Ewan is on its way.
In the Five elements wind is associated with the Wood element which predominates in Spring, it is a dynamic transformer, blasting away the old and clearing space for the new, hence the expression the winds of change. As well as moving from Winter to Spring it also feels that there are massive changes going on on all levels, blasting and buffeting us along, waking us up and opening our eyes to realities we hadn't seen before and so creating opportunities for new ways of being.
So as you set off for your week notice what changes the wind is blowing your way as we head into Spring and see if you can find a way to use this dynamic energy to open up new opportunities.
Have a great day, love Carol xx

Trauma...

In the five element map it's the water element that holds deep trauma, shock and exhaustion. A few years ago now a shocking event happened in my life, and my feet became frozen where I stood. After several kinesiology sessions and a good amount of personal work I realised that my bladder meridian had 'frozen' in the face of the shocking event. I could not put my ' best foot forward' to move on until I did these things... 1. ACKNOWLEDGE the shock for how deep it was and how helpless it made me feel 2. ALLOW the healing to happen at a pace that I could handle and not 'push the tide' 3. LISTEN to my body about what it needed and make it a priority 4. SUPPORT my kidneys and adrenals so I could rest out of 'fight or flight' and build up my energy reserves again 5. NOTICE the healing changes as they happened so as to alleviate frustration at it 'taking too long'.
I pleased to say I am 95% healed now. And it's taken 5 years. And it plugs into others shocks and traumas from earlier on in life that I am still uncovering. The healing journey continues. Much love to your water element today. SJ x

This is one of my favourite bits of prose, first saw it about 30 years ago at the Traditional Acupuncture college is Leamington Spa and I have a poster on my wall at home...reminds us to remember how precious and special our Earth is and how we truly would be nothing without it, the essence of the wonderful Five Elements... have a lovely day, with love Carol xx

Blue...

Morning Journeyers, this gorgeous photo reminded me of the power of colour. Each of the five elements have an associated colour and not surprisingly for the Winter Water element this is blue. So if like me you feel your energy flagging at the end of Winter, or you feel stressed in another way first rehydrate and then have a de-stressing blue 'experience' to support your inner waters.
You could wrap yourself in a blue blanket, wear your favourite blue outfit (or even just underwear), wrap a blue scarf around your mid back/kidney area or simply close your eyes and imagine yourself floating in this blue cave in deliciously warm water for a minute or so.
Wishing you a relaxing, blue (in a good way) day 💙🌊💙🌊 love Carol xx

Be your own unique wave...

Morning journeyers, I had a lovely trip to the coast on Saturday and enjoyed a long walk along the beach wave watching and taking photos. I love the ebb and flow of the water, the different shapes and sizes, the sounds of crashing waves as they hit the shore and then the gentle withdrawl.
It reminded me that we all have our own unique wave inside, the way our water element flows and nourishes all the other elements through our body, mind and spirit.
So this week connect with your own water element and feel your own wave inside, and may you ride that energy this week as we make the most of the last bit of Winter energy 🌊🌊🌊 lots of love Carol xx

Breathe in clarity...

Morning journeyers...the Winter season brings the opportunity for a deep calmness and clarity; while we often associate movement with the Water element because of babbling brooks and the mighty tidal oceans it is also associated with the stillness, seen and felt in the peace of snow, the inperceptible movement of a glacier and the softness of misty rain.
In this still and peaceful place we can then find clarity; a deep moment to get beneath the busy-ness of the minutes, the days and the weeks to reconnect to ourself and the essence of who we are. So as we come up to the weekend remember to take a moment (maybe with a glass of water ;) ) to reconnect to the peace and stillness of YOUR water element and breathe...wishing you a fab weekend full of stillness and clarity, Carol xx

Morning journeyers, the river in Exeter is high and fast moving at the moment, as vast amounts of water pour off the high moors on their way to the coast. I noticed so much debris being swept along, clearing the banks of old plants, dead trees anything not firmly rooted and alive.
It made me think that as we enter the final few weeks of Winter, let's make the most of some Winter cleansing, the chance to deep clean and wash away whatever is getting in the way of our next step in our journey of life. Use the power of the Water element within to flush out the debris and let it flow away. This doesn't have to be like a mighty river it could be a gentle steam clean, the healing action is still the same.
With lots of love as you 'wash away' ready for the next step, Carol xx

Water feeds wood...

Happy dancing between the seasons weekend! In the five element cycle the water element (vitality, resilience, dreams, spark and ruler of winter) feeds the wood element (planning, pace, ideas, growth and ruler of spring). We are still mainly in winter but I can feel the push of both the veg bed planting plan and my new projects calling me to action. SO this weekend you may feel like having some wood/spring time: for me this is planning, visioning, setting course dates, and also having some winter/water time...the need to have a snooze, to go gentley, to sit by the fire and tend energy reserves. I hope you get to enjoy the dance between the seasons this weekend! Love Sarah-Jayne xx

Morning journeyers, we have had heavy rain over the last couple of weeks in Devon and my garden is very muddy and the land temporarily saturated. Yesterday as I took some photos it made me think of feelings of overwhelm and being out of our depth in relation to the Water element. The emotion linked to the Water element is fear and both these feelings are fear-based and are very much like saturatedboggy ground, feeling unpredictable and without a stable foundation.
It is often said that if we are not growing and expanding then we are actually dying as expansion is the nature of Spirit and the life force that flows through us. We could therefore choose to see feelings of overwhelm and being out of our depth as just a sign that we are temporarily out of our comfort zone, a period of rapidly treading water until we grow enough to catch up with ourselves again.
So next time you have that panicked feeling of overwhelm, look beneath the surface to see where you have recently grown and challenged yourself enough to take the step out into deeper water; reframe the panic for excitement at the sign that you are in the flow of life, expanding into being even more of who you really are. Now relax into this reaassurance that our Water element loves so much and take the next step forward in the flow of life.
Wishing you a lovely day, filled with boggy patches, deep lagoons and flowing rivers, love Carol x
