Muscle insight...

Here's a muscle insight for you journeyers.
In kinesiology the Gluteus Medius is associated with the circulation sex meridian. This muscle is used to pull the thigh out and rotate the leg. A high shoulder or hip may indicate a weakness in this muscle. Feel this muscle at the side and back of the pelvis. A good firey question associated with the Gluteus Medius is do you have difficulty holding your legs open, literally or figuratively? Sarah-Jayne

Heat...

The fire element of the summer season brings us balanced energy and temperature. Feeling sparkey, full of passion, enthusiastic and 'warm' inside and out? Chances are your fire element is happy and balanced. The converse is also true. Feeling chilly? passion-less? Finding it hard to circulate internally or with others? Then fire might need balancing. Remember the wood element of spring (visions, plans, ideas) feeds the fire element. This picture is my bbq fire bowl on the evening of my moving in party. We cooked on the coals and then slowly added logs to build up the fire to warm the party of people gathered. We also had water nearby just in case we needed to dampen a fire that had got a bit over excited.
How is your fire element doing today?

Intensity...

Morning journeyers. .. this week feels intense for me, my youngest son is leaving home in less than a week and so many moments feel poignant.
The Fire element is associated with intensity, that feeling when everything is turned up a notch and we are really feeling the heat or the 'burn'. This energy comes from passion within the Heart directed towards something or someone we love and care about very much. This passion and intensity fuels us so we can go the extra mile, overcome our fears and consider new possibilities. But intensity can be exhausting, the fire cannot rage forever, so it is important to let the flames die down, to step away from the intense heat and find a way to cool off. So this week I am being mindful to go easy, to take time out from the intensity and have some playful fun instead. 💜🔥
So journeyers when things feel intense transform it into playful fun, release the feeling with belly laughing and silliness and you will feel lighter and brighter again.
With lots of love Carol xxx

Choose your fuel...

Morning journeyers, today's ponderings are about food and how we fuel our gorgeous selves to walk our paths (this is my other passion🔥🔥). The Fire element is associated with digestion and our metabolism and how well this works depends on the food we eat. Today I have been 57 days sugar-free and I feel amazing, my diet has always fundamentally been good but it has been the 'supplementaries' that plug me into a sugar addiction and then over eating. These 57 days has taught me so much about the 'fuel' my body loves 💜 and hates.... I thought I'd share my findings
🔥 our bodies love food that burns slowly, wholegrains, healthy fats, protein, my energy lasts for ages, no more energy dips.
🔥 our bodies get stressed by processed 'white' grains as it burns fast and so presses the insulin button. This type of food makes our body work hard and there are crazy ups and downs and food cravings.
🔥 flour can have the same effect in the body as sugar, it stimulates the production of insulin and so makes you crave other food that does the same.
🔥 whole fruit, although contains fructose, contains lots of goodies, fibre, vitamins and minerals which mitigates the effects of the natural sugars. These are a great snack but better to have as part of a meal.
🔥 dried and blended fruit give a sugar hit and are quick fuel so places you firmly on the sugar roller coaster again.
So as we are at the height of Summer how can we best fuel ourselves to make the most of our energy. I suggest lots of raw salads which include wholegrains such as brown rice, quinoa (a seed technically) or barley teamed with some protein such as oily fish, eggs, humus, guacamole. Have fruit as part of a meal and choose protein/fat based snacks to get you through energy lows.... and of course keep hydrated, in the Five element model water controls fire so is an essential part of digestion.
Have a gorgeous and nourishing day, love Carol xx🔥💜🍓

Happy Sunday Journeyers. Last night friends and family gathered to help me 'warm my new home'. We had food and a fire. Today my house feels more vibrant, happier and definitely warmer on all levels. This is the fire element in action...friendships, relationships, interaction and yes...warmth...both inside and out. Have a good day, Sarah-Jayne xx

New moon blessings...

New moon was at 3am (ish) this morning in the UK. We are half way through the year already, and what a year of highs and lows, disbelief and deep trust. New moons are a great time to stop, to take stock and to really listen to your deepest self, and the deepest selves of those around you. From here the intentions can come to act on with the filling out energy of the moon. So today get some quiet...shhhh..listen. New moon blessings, Sarah-Jayne x

Firey muscles

Morning Journeyers. Here's a muscle insight for you..
The quadriceps in kinesiology are the muscles that relate to the balance of the small intestine meridian. This is the muscle that helps us step up, or pace ourselves so we don’t overstep. It makes sure we can raise up from being seated. If there is a weakness in this area or a profusion of indigestion/ colic then rub the bottom edge of the rib cage all along from side of sternum to waist.

Compassion starts with you...

Wandering up in on the old trackways where I walk the dog I noticed lots of tiny white hearts (fallen rose petals) strewn all over the place. The last three months of events in the UK has left my heart hurting. Both in personal life and in the news, these are indeed tricky times. The summer season is all about the element of fire, it holds qualities of generousity and compassion...both to ourselves and towards others. In Chinese medicine the Heart is known as the Supreme Controller of the body, mind and spirit, a benevolent leader who rules with kindness. In order to be kind and compassionate to others, we must start with ourselves. These rose petals where reminding me to talk softly to myself, and to know that I am doing the best I can in these days, as is everyone else. May you find some heart wisdom today, love Sarah-Jayne
