Earth, cycles and rituals...

As a trained Acupuncturist and a Nutritional Therapist who uses the Five Elements in my work it is often the case that I notice when an element is out of balance just as much as when it is healthy. The Earth element with its soft naturally curling, circular energy can easily get stuck in a roundabout cycle of patterns, beliefs and thoughts, this can be seen when we constantly 'chew' something over, worrying continually or get obsessive in any area of our life.

Whereas healthy habits and routine gives some structure to our lives, dogedly repeating actions and thoughts that do not serve us end up leaving us feel disatisfied, contracted and unhappy; and using the Earth as an analogy rather like sticky, cloddy, clay soil.
The saying which goes something like 'If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got' comes to mind and reminds us to always try and find new ways of doing things so we are consciously breaking repetitve patterns and so turning over new soil.

There is a wonderful point on the Spleen meridian (spleen 8) called Earth Motivator, this is a wonderful point for breaking up the metaphorical cloddy, clay soil and creating fresh aerated soil, in other words fresh patterns and new ways of doing things....so today consider if you have got stuck somewhere and whether it is time to turn over some new soil, have a great day Carol x

Feel the light change...

Morning lovely journeyers, are you watching the light change, feeling the transition between Summer Fire and and the Late Summer Harvest? Last night it rained in the night here in Devon so the air feels fresh after the warm sticky day yesterday. At the moment the mornings are feeling so full of the Earth element and Late Summer, juicy, plumped up and nourished and then the days heat up and we swing back into Summer with intense heat and dryness. Then about 4pm Late Summer returns with that soft golden light and gentle warmth.
These transitions between seasons (and all other transitions) are associated with the Earth element, a time of balance and stillness to catch up with ourselves, regroup and enjoy a moment of peace. At this seasonal transition take time to consider the harvest (metaphorical or literal) that you have already gathered in, really feel it it in your heart (Fire element) and give a big bucket of gratitude for the abundance you have as we watch the light change.
..have a gorgeous day everyone,
love Carol 😊💜

Corn moon...

Tomorrow's (Thursday's) full moon is known as the Corn Moon. There is also a lunar eclipse (not visible in the U.K.). Let the mirrored light of the full moon show where your thoughts, words and deeds are 'growing corn' and where they are not. What comes may be inconvenient truth...eclipse season can throw up that which we would prefer too not look at, stuff we shove down. Let it come, harvest the good stuff and let the dross go..sort the wheat from the chaff so to speak. The good stuff can then sustain your next steps. Happy harvesting, Sarah-J

Embrace the beauty...

Morning lovely journeyers, I love this photo I took recently, it so perfectly sums up this time of year, the mix of blossoming and harvest that is mingling together side by side. The Fire element is becoming tempered by the natural dampness that sets in around mid August in Devon hailing the arrival of the Earth element.
So lovely people this brings an opportunity to see what is beautiful in your life and celebrate in Firey style, holding it close to your heart and feeling the joy. It also brings the opportunity to fan the last of the Summer Fire flames of what we want to ripen and harvest. For me I'm loving the beauty of my garden and how it nourishes the whole of me and I am working hard to bring some delicious work projects to fruition for the Autumn term...yum, loving the balance 💜💟💗 so how are you loving the beauty and the bounty?
Have a glorious day, love Carol x

Do what you love...

These Rowan berries really struck me on my early morning dog walk...bright red with a green backdrop on a dull morning. Red is the colour of the fire element (unsuprisingly). Things coming to fruition, to maturing, is what this season of summer (fire) into late sumner (earth) is all about. In tree medicine Rowan is about protection. This got me thinking about the heart protector meridian..also called the pericardium or circulation sex meridian and how important it is to protect the things we love doing in the hustle and bustle of everyday pressures. So I invite you to do what you love, and love what you do. Life is short! Enjoy, love Sarah-Jayne ❤ 🔥 ❤ 🌎

Relax and keep cool...

Happy Sunday journeyers, we seem to be having a blast of gorgeous summery weather again here in Devon and as it's the weekend it is perfect for relaxing outside and even more perfect if we can find some water to keep us cool (Water controls Fire within the Five elements). As we slowly glide towards Late Summer the energy feels even softer and more indulgent to me. So happy chilling, lots of love Carol xx
