It reminded me that the Earth element is strongly linked to our physicality, our flesh and muscles in particular. As a Nutritional Therapist I'm a passionate believer in tending the soil of our body just as we would tend the soil of our garden and green spaces. The Earth element is associated with the flavour of sweetness and this is the flavour that we can easily get 'off track' with particularly with the western world being awash with processed carbs and sugary treats.
So keep your sweet treats as natural as possible, a juicy ripe nectarine, some raspberries or slices of crisp apples topped with almond butter.
Also remember that the Earth element feeds Metal and the Metal element is linked to the bowel and bowel flora. Sugar and processed carbs are well known to disrupt the balance of the healthy bacteria in our gut compromising our immune system, how efficiently we digest food, our mental health and much more.
So feel your bodies connection to the Earth and love it with naturally sweet food.
