'Which wave are you riding?' ....I was chatting to someone yesterday about the work I do and we (Sarah-Jayne and I) do at Journey with the Seasons and was trying to share the essence of why it is important to our health and wellbeing, so I thought I would share.
Our underlying philosophy is that we are part of the natural world and it is part of us, this is expressed in the Chinese Five Element map that underpins our work. Each of these gorgeous Five Elements expresses itself most fully in one of the five seasons, spring, summer, late summer (harvest time, Indian summer, think blackberries and apples), autumn and winter. Each of these five seasons feels different in nature so it also feels different in our bodies, for example our energy levels are different, the food we want to eat is different, our creative focus is different, there is nothing comparable in how each of the Five Elements express themselves in us or nature.
Our work is to help you connect to the energy of the season, to get you riding the wave of the season so you are going with the natural flow, rather than working against it. If you can do this you will be able to make the most of your energy levels, use the strengths of each season to your advantage and work around the challenges each of the seasons presents.
We both have different passions within our love for the Five elements, Sarah-Jayne is an amazing Kinesiologist and so works with the elements and meridians through muscle testing, while I focus on seasonal eating and naturopathic techniques to support people based around my acupuncture training.
Of course life is never perfect and it may only be possible to glimpse the essence of seasonal living some days but those insights are gold dust because in that moment we can feel our connection to nature and the land and something bigger than ourselves. I feel lucky to have this passion and even luckier to be able to share it everyday...wishing you a wonderful day and hope you are still riding Winter's wave while she is still rolling 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊with love Carol xx
